So I just came back from the seeing White Christmas and my expectations were definitely exceeded and the theatre experience was way better than I thought it was going to be.  It was very different going into a small theatre and watching a very old movie because I’ve never really done that before. I mean I’ve seen some old classics but not with the atmosphere included.  It was very cold and actually snowing a little (how convenient since I was going to see the movie White Christmas).  I was actually excited to see how this experience was going to pan out!

I walked up to the theatre and I could already tell that it was old fashion because they only took cash! Which got me a little irritated because then I had to walk in the cold to the ATM at the Allamo ll and get cash. Once I got cash and bought my ticket, I entered the cute little theatre. It was much cleaner and newer than I thought it was going to be, but I was surprised to find out that there was only one theatre! It was definitely a breathe of fresh air to be in such a different environment. They explained before the movie that phones were highly restricted, as if it was a death threat. I thought that was a little funny because I cant go a second without looking at my phone, but I managed for a few hours. So experiencing the theatre was definitely fun, but I was more excited for the movie.

When the lights went down and the curtain up, the show finally started.  I thought it was so cute that before the movie, they played a little cartoon skit. The cartoons were from when I was a baby and it brought back so many memories! That definitely put me in such a good mood. So once the movie started I already had a smile on my face. The movie started and I instantly wasn’t used to the filming and or the sets because they looked kind of fake, but the acting was funny and cheerful. The movie was adorable because 2 men, Phil Davis and Bob Wallace, left the army to go Broadway and later teamed up with 2 beautiful women in the same business, Betty and Judy Haynes, to try and save their general’s beloved inn. The movie was filled with romance, drama, and my favorite; dancing and singing. At the end they end up putting on a phenomenal performance and save the inn!

            Tonight I’m going to see the movie White Christmas! I'm actually very excited to see this because Christmas isn’t that far away and it’s just another reason to get into the Christmas spirit! I also can’t wait to go inside the normal theatre.  I decided to wait until December to do this movie project because I believe classic Christmas movies are the best. They have such a lovely touch to them and they’re very romantic. I believe seeing movies and how they used to be filmed is very important because it gives you a little bit of a taste on how the society used to be. It also gives you a break on all the other movies coming out, which seem like they are all the same. 

My opinion right now on the theatre that I will be going to watch this movie at, is kind of old and boring because they play movies that are old and kind of boring. Although I might have the wrong expectation, I will see tonight. I do like the fact that the made this theatre because it puts a classy touch on the Illinois State University campus. It reminds us of the past and how film making used to be.  I asked many of my friends if they have ever been to it just to get a little bit of an actual opinion on this before I went in with wrong expectations, but no one that I know has been there!  I'm excited to go and see what its all about so I can pass it on to my friends.

            Now for the movie, I did some research and I think its going to be really good. In the movie there’s singing, dancing, romance, and a do or die plot. Two dancing acts, 2 boys and 2 girls, fall in love with each other in hopes of dancing and singing their way to saving the Vermont inn. I’m excited to find out how they are going to save the inn and why it needs to be saved. I also want to find out how the dancers fall in love! My favorite movies are dancing and romantic films, so I should definitely like it. I'm glad we got assigned this project because I believe it will open up my horizons and have me think about classic movies in a different way.  

My Thanksgiving break

So my break was pretty awesome because I did absolutely NOTHING! Hahah it was the best. The first day I got back I went to go see harry potter! It was such a good movie but the ending sucked because I wanted to know what was going to happen! The next day I took a bikram yoga class and I can tell I was so out of shape because I could barely handle the heat (thanks a lot college).  The I met up with some of my good friends and we went tanning and I got a much needed pedicure J.  The next day Sunday was definitely the best day over break. I visited my dance studio and sat in on their dance rehearsal.  They all got so good and im so incredibly jealous of all their dances this year because they’re so sick! The dance im most jealous of is their Lady Gaga dance. Oh my god, the choreography is genius and the props are going to be amazing! Ughh I wish I was still on my dance team. I also got to see all my old friends and spend some quality time. We all spent days catching up on each other’s lives.  All my friends had such funny stories from each college. It felt good talking with my friends from home. It reminded me of my high school years, and how fun those years used to be. Besides that the rest of the week consisted of me being incredibly lazy.  I missed being home and having my mom make me breakfast every morning. I also missed my family and on thanksgiving we all talked about how thankful we were that we were all together and healthy on thanksgiving. After that, we all got into our shopping modes and went out black Friday and shopped til we dropped lol. I was a really good break but now I cant wait to get finals done with so I can go home again!

Project 4 blog

I'm writing my letters too 2 very important people in my life. One is my mother and the second is my sorority sister Lexie Robinson.  I picked these two people because they are extremely different and have very different opinions on my fashion merchandising major.

         I picked my mother because she is the one person, beside myself, that I would want to make proud in my life.  Ever since I was younger and started realizing my accomplishments and goals, I wanted to make her proud because of everything she has done in her life. She has a masters and bachelor’s degree in chemistry and she currently works at Griffith Laboratories as one of their top food chemists. She has accomplished so much in her life and she continues to succeed. One of my main goals is to be as successful as her in my major when I grow up and hopefully graduate from Illinois State. I also want to be able to support my family just like she does with us. Although my father supports us too, I’m happy to say she’s a big contributor to our household. I don’t want a man to support me, I want to be just like my mom and be able to support myself and become an independent, successful woman. 

         The second person I picked was my sorority sister Lexie Robinson.  Lexie and I are very close and love spending time with eachother, even though she is a complete tomboy.  I'm into getting my nails done and going shopping, while she rather watch the bears game and eat pizza. Its so weird how were so different but I look up to her because of how she follows her morals so well.  Her opinion means a lot to me and I would love to prove to her that fashion merchandising is an amazing career for me and anyone else with the passion.

Free write

Once again the only thing on my mind is this research paper and my math class. I'm so bad at math its so annoying. I try and get help but seriously nothing works and everything is so confusing to me. This paper too is stressing me out so much. I just have so much going on that I don’t know when to get all of it done! I knew college was going to be overwhelming but not like this. I miss high school so much because it was so easy! I got such good grades and I loved my teachers. They were the coolest people in the world. I guess I just freak out easily when I’m overwhelmed which isn’t good at all. I never wanted summer to be here so bad, or even winter break. I hate being stressed. I can’t wait to just go home and chill with my friends and family. Besides Halloween, that’s the one thing I’m looking forward too. Even thanksgiving break is going to be fun, especially because I love eating! Even though I cant stop thinking about all the breaks coming up, I have to focus on getting my grades up because they suck so bad.  I wish things came easily to me like some other people. 

Project 3 Idea

 So I'm pretty scared for this paper because I honestly don’t know what I’m doing yet! But whatever, maybe some of you guys can help me but this is what I have so far.  Well my major is fashion merchandising. Fashion merchandising is basically a buyer for certain stores, they go to fashion shows and talk to buyers to see what the next hot trend is. After they do that they buy them for the store they represent and put them on the rack.  Some controversy that has been going on with fashion is that the true hard work is going to waste in most ads. This is because only sex sells and that’s what basically all ads have to be based on, instead of the actually clothing itself and the art behind it.  So the argument I was thinking about using would be, to say that fashion is taking over in a more modern way and the art of the clothing is still there. So thats one idea I was thinking about but I really don’t know what else I could use. If anyone has any other suggestions then please help me!!

Free Write

So the main thing on my mind again is school. School is still annoying and overwhleming but not as much as before because last week I dropped my history class which im sooooo happy about!! Lol I would have had to write a 5 page paper about cherokee indians and some 3 page footnotes page! Hell no I couldn’t do that especially with this week being one of the busiest ill have this semester. For my soroity were doing this thing called derby days and im representing my plegde class so I pretty had to go to everything and go out everyday preparing for it so it was sooo busy. But besides that im just trying to do good in school because I don’t want to go back home and go to community college cuz that would just suck so bad. I really miss my dance team and being with all my friends the most. Im kind of excited to come home next weekend even though ill be missing homecoming :/ but I get to take a dance class from a famous dancer! Its gonna be so sick, but that weekend I also might have to get my wisdom teeth taken out cuz I cant even bare to have them in anymore. They hurt so bad its ridicoulous. Ahhhh I don’t know what else to write about. I cant wait for Saturday because its my soroity’s bardance and its gonna be so fun but I still don’t have cowboy boots which sucks. Hopefully I can borrow some from somebody else but we’ll see! Okay so I think that’s enough for now. Peace
