So I'm pretty scared for this paper because I honestly don’t know what I’m doing yet! But whatever, maybe some of you guys can help me but this is what I have so far. Well my major is fashion merchandising. Fashion merchandising is basically a buyer for certain stores, they go to fashion shows and talk to buyers to see what the next hot trend is. After they do that they buy them for the store they represent and put them on the rack. Some controversy that has been going on with fashion is that the true hard work is going to waste in most ads. This is because only sex sells and that’s what basically all ads have to be based on, instead of the actually clothing itself and the art behind it. So the argument I was thinking about using would be, to say that fashion is taking over in a more modern way and the art of the clothing is still there. So thats one idea I was thinking about but I really don’t know what else I could use. If anyone has any other suggestions then please help me!!
i think you may be able to alot with that topic becaus ei compelty agree...this society is pretty much soley based on the sexual nature behind things and i think you could get many strong arguements about why it is important to show the art behind clothing because in all honesty, when all people see is the sex behind a look its hard them to take fashion as a major seriously...i know that its legit and this could really help show other why it is too
ReplyDeleteKinda like what we did for our ad project you could argue for what makes clothing sell and what gets people to want to buy a certain brand maybe. Maybe something else you could try is to argue for who decides what types of things are in/out. Something else you could do is pick a fashion show on tv (what not to wear, project runway, say yes to the dress, etc) and try to find something within that show to argue about.
ReplyDeleteI also think that topic would be a good one. The paper is only 1500 word requirement, which isn't too much. I think that it would be a good choice because that is totally true, and if you have a strong opinion that you don't think it's right, it would be a good and interesting topic for you.
