My Writing Processes

My process of writing is pretty regular, but also has a few weird components.  I have to start thinking about my paper that day or weekend that it is assigned to me.  When I think about it I have to have all my references there to make an outline or a list of a few bullet points. This reference list consists of some ideas that I will use for my paper.  After making this outline I think some more. I think about how I will organize the elements of my paper and how it will flow. Flow is very important to me and when I sit down to right a paper the paragraphs before each one that I right must all flow before I continue on. This also pertains to revision of my paper. Of course I revise my paper once it is done, but I also revise it while I’m writing it. I can’t move on with my paper when I see all those red scribbles under several words because it becomes very distracting. When I go to sit down and start my paper, it must be at the most a week before the paper is due.  I can’t do my paper the night before and cram everything in or else I will end up with some sort of anxiety attack! I must have a lot of time so I feel comfortable enough to explain all my feelings and so that im not rushed.  I also have to be in complete silence when I type my papers. When im making my outline I can be in public, but when it comes to the bulk of my paper I must be in complete silence. When it comes to my work space I enjoy writing at a desk with all of my references a few inches away, but my ultimate writing spot in on my fouton will a pillow on my lap along with my laptop. This is where I get my best writing done. Something new that I want to try is being able to write in any environment. I would ultimately love to be able to write outside. My goal before I graduate is to write a paper outside in the spring in the quad.

What kind of visual and emotional appeals draw you into an ad? What makes you pay attention to it? What makes you remember it? What makes you want to buy what they are selling?

In my opinion, there are many elements that draw me into an ad like, bright colors, attractive font, models used to sell the product, and how they get me to buy it. Bright colors and attractive font draw the buyer’s eyes to the ad. Therefore, they pay more attention to it and actually want to spend the time to read the ad and maybe even buy the product.  They can also try and make me want to a buy a product by getting me emotionally involved.  For example, someone who is a sucker for puppies may only buy a dog because an ad made the dog look sad and lonely.  They can also throw in some discounts or deals to draw you in. Emotionally drawing someone in is a very good way to advertise a product.
Some things that make me pay close attention to the ad are some popular visual objects such as, a famous actor or actress, a character of a famous brand, or a popular product that everyone needs. As a teenage girl I would pay more attention to an ad with Taylor Launter selling a perfume bottle, than an ad of President Obama selling a political book. It also all depends on the audience and what kind of people you are trying to attract.  If you want a certain population to buy your product, you must use elements in your ad that will draw your desired audience in.
So by drawing your customer in, as a result, they will always remember your product.  Thinking of funny mascots and different ways to get your ad noticed is key to having people remember your ad. Just like the gecko in the geico car insurance commercials.  If you go up to people and as them the first thing that pops up in their head when you say car insurance, majority would say geico and even maybe sing the jingle along with it. As you can see all of these elements are crucial when developing a successful ad.

Blog Entry 4: College classes suck

Soooo, pretty much the only thing on my mind right now is all my frickin homework.  I have so many things all at once to do and seriously no time to do it. Its also really hard when your in a soroity too because you have so many unexpected meeting you have to attend and they sometimes take forever. Don’t get me wrong tho, I love pledging for my soroity but its just a little overwhleming because classes give out so much homework. But sometimes maybe I think its not the amount of homework, but the way it catches up to you. Like in highschool I just procastinated and that’s why I was so stressed most of the time. But now I thought I spread my homework out decently; apparently not? I have this english homework to do, get soroity things done, attend soroity meetings that are most of the time unexpected, study for upcoming exams, and on top of all that my only black heels broke and I have an event to attend on friday.  So now I have to figure out how im going to get black heels with no time, no car, and no decent stores around here!!! Ughhh this sucks sooooo bad. At times like these I wish I was back home so I can just jump in my car and go borrow shoes from my friend or go to the mall that’s 10 minutes away and shop at GOOD stores.  I knew college was going to be hard but I never knew that no matter what your pretty much always going to be stressed. Even if you pace yourself with homework and don’t procrastinate.  I figured out from my first month here that the homework will always catch up to you at the worst times. So the only thing you can do is be ready for it and take it like a champ.

Blog entry 3 : questions

For my front cover, I wanted to ask these questions: "Do you suggest I use dark colors? Or something brighter?" Explain how you can get a good picture of my story by looking at it. If not, explain why. What suggestions do u have for the font I used? I asked these questions because those were the elements had the hardest time with.  I wanted my peers opinion.

Book Cover Exploration

So I pretty much have an idea of what im doing. I just don’t know if I should draw it yet or if there’s a better way to do it. Like on the computer or publisher? So if u guys can read this and give me some advice on how I could do this that would be great! I'm thinking for the front cover to be half of my face and in the background I might have a sky or a stage. The sky would represent the quote “the sky is the limit.” This has a lot to do with my life because that was my mind set throughout my life.  The other background I was thinking about would be a stage representing the actually story I was trying to hint to the reader. My book was based on the dancing in my life and how I strived to be the best I can be. That’s why on my front cover, on half of my face inside my eye, there will be words such as, determination, perseverance, sweat, tears, etc.  I might have the words written in the eyes or have them coming  down like tears because when I reached my goals in dance it was hard and there were times when I cried.  The title is also a maybe. I was thinking it would be “My eye on the prize.”  If anyone has any other suggestions let me know!
So that’s pretty much my front cover, my back cover is a little more confusing for me because I don’t know what to do!  I'm thinking of making it a sky background and then putting an inspiring quote about attitude to get the reader thinking?  I also want to add some elements like a barcode, a few quotes from a few dance magazines, and maybe an award on the front cover. If u guys have any feed back or any ideas on how to design this on the computer that would be great! Thanks!
