My process of writing is pretty regular, but also has a few weird components. I have to start thinking about my paper that day or weekend that it is assigned to me. When I think about it I have to have all my references there to make an outline or a list of a few bullet points. This reference list consists of some ideas that I will use for my paper. After making this outline I think some more. I think about how I will organize the elements of my paper and how it will flow. Flow is very important to me and when I sit down to right a paper the paragraphs before each one that I right must all flow before I continue on. This also pertains to revision of my paper. Of course I revise my paper once it is done, but I also revise it while I’m writing it. I can’t move on with my paper when I see all those red scribbles under several words because it becomes very distracting. When I go to sit down and start my paper, it must be at the most a week before the paper is due. I can’t do my paper the night before and cram everything in or else I will end up with some sort of anxiety attack! I must have a lot of time so I feel comfortable enough to explain all my feelings and so that im not rushed. I also have to be in complete silence when I type my papers. When im making my outline I can be in public, but when it comes to the bulk of my paper I must be in complete silence. When it comes to my work space I enjoy writing at a desk with all of my references a few inches away, but my ultimate writing spot in on my fouton will a pillow on my lap along with my laptop. This is where I get my best writing done. Something new that I want to try is being able to write in any environment. I would ultimately love to be able to write outside. My goal before I graduate is to write a paper outside in the spring in the quad.
